The Bluffs of Weiss
A Weiss Lake Property Communtity
The Bluffs is located in the foothills of the
Cumberland Plateau section of the Appalachian Mountains in Northwest
Alabama's historic Cherokee County. The development is located
in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, 25 minutes from Rome, Georgia and near the
rugged gorges of the Little River Canyon.

The Bluffs
is almost a 1,100 acre development, with the first phase consisting
of 60 lots spread over more than 150 acres. Our architect and
land planners have designed this phase to capitalize on the beauty and
serenity of the mountain and lake vistas, with every parcel having at
least one premium home site with both a lake view and a mountain view .
There are no so-called "interior" lots.
Be sure to check out the mountain
property in Phase 2. Phase 2 encompasses
one of the highest ridges in the development and the lake and mountain
views from these new lots are stunning. We have also built a
private lake for fishing, picnics, etc. Some lots border this
new private lake, while also having beautiful views of Weiss Lake.
There are miles of walking/mountain
biking/horseback riding trails throughout the properties, which wander
along the streams and rise to the mountaintops overlooking Weiss Lake
and the Chattooga, Coosa and Little River. A private (fenced/gated)
lakeside park is under development just adjacent io the entrance to The
Bluffs. The park will provide pavilions, public tables and private lake
access for the residents of The Bluffs. A marina with motel, boat
rentals and protected boat storage is located a mile away from The
Bluffs. There are grocery stores and restaurants in Cedar Bluff, as
well as super-store shopping a few miles away in Centre, the Cherokee
County Seat.
The (south) Park is built on a
fantastic two-acre lakefront lot. This recreation area
includes docks, lakeside deck, pavilion, picnic facilities and
more. Just take a look at some of the views from
the private community lake front area.

The Bluffs properties are located on the
southernmost part of the Dirtseller Mountain Range. The name,
Dirtseller Mountain, is a translation of the Cherokee name for the
mountain, Karte Kunteesky . The lake and rivers almost
completely surround the mountain property which has
perfectly tiered ridge lines, creating the unique setting with every
lot being a view lot.

 Cherokee County is
rich in Indian and Civil War history. Much of that history is
documented in the Cherokee County Historical Museum. The
county has over 25,000 full-time residents and a large second-home
population with absentee owners from all 50 states and 6 foreign
countries. It is among top 10 fastest growing counties in Alabama.
 Weiss
Lake , owned by Alabama Power Company, is a 30,200+ acre
hydro-electric impoundment of the Coosa, Chattooga, and Little Rivers.
It offers 447 miles of shoreline with shallow flats; under-water
drop-offs; deep channels; and large coves. Privately owned
motels, marinas, campgrounds, boat and motor rentals, guide service,
and fishing supply shops are available to support the "crappie fishing
capital of the world."
Little
River Canyon National Preserve** is located only a few
miles from The Bluffs and
stretches over 18 miles, with plunges of more than 700
feet. Believed to be the deepest gorge east of the Rocky
Mountains, this natural wonder varies from one-half to a
mile-and-a-half wide, offering caves, waterfalls and magnificent
vistas. The river flowing through the canyon is the only one
in the nation to form on top of a mountain, before thundering with
world-class rapids down to DeSoto Falls.
 Cherokee
Rock Village , located atop Lookout Mountain Ridge,
offers views of Weiss Lake and distant cities. The 200 acre
park contains boulders as tall as several hundred feet and dating back
300 million years.
Cherokee Country Club
is located ten miles from The Bluffs. Offering an 18 hole golf
course, club house and other amenities, the Cherokee Country Club is a
convenient and economical recreation alternative for fulltime
residents, as well as vacation home owners.
 Coosa Country Club
in Rome is only 25 miles away and is one of the South's "grand old
country clubs" dating back to 1910 hosting some of the greats, like
Bobby Jones. The club offers attactive membership rates for out of town
owners.
Gadsden State Community College
is building a new $20+ million extended campus in Centre Alabama, just
five miles from Cedar Bluff. One specialty of the new campus will be
the training of medical professionals, expecially nurses.
Cherokee Medical Hospital-Cherokee
is a 60-bed affiliate of Baptist Health Systems (the largest health
system in Alabama) providing primary care, emergency services, and a
broad range of specialized medicine.
